Omschrijving
Ik loop in een gelijkmatige ritme in een kring. Aan een stok die aan mijn lichaam vastgemaakt is hangt een infusiefles. Binnen 30 minuten wordt 60 mg. valium - opgelost in 300 ml. NaCl 0,9% - in mijn bloedbaan geïnfuseerd.
Ik sta met mijn rug naar het publiek toe voor een stalen plaat die aan de muur vastgemaakt is. Om mijn voorhoofd heb ik een stalen band gebonden. In een gelijkmatig ritme bonk ik met mijn hoofd tegen die stalen plaat aan. Het geluid wordt weergegeven via een versterker en luidsprekers.

Ich laufe in einem gleichmässigen Rhythmus im Kreis. An einer Stange, die an meinem Körper befestigt ist, hängt eine Infusionsflasche. Innerhalb von 30 Minuten werden 60 mg. Valium - aufgelöst in 300 ml NaCl 0,9% - in meinen Blutkreislauf infundiert.
Ich stehe mit den Rücken zum Publikum vor einer an der Wand befestigten Stahlplatte. Um meine Stirn habe ich ein Stahlband gebunden. In gleichmässigen Rhythmus schlage ich mit dem Kopf gegen die Stahlplatte. Das Geräusch wird über Verstärker und Lautsprecher wiedergegeben.
Description
This video is a recording of a performance given by Boegel and Holtappels in front of an audience. Holtappels is walking naked in a circle having a stick with an infusion bottle tied onto his body. From the bottle, Valium is gradually released into his blood, making his walking steadily degrading and staggering. In the meantime Boegels, wearing a metallic band on his forehead and turned with his back against the audience, is hitting rhythmically his forehead against a metal plate fixed on the wall. The rhythmic sound is being amplified through speakers. Boegel and Holtappels are using their performance as a means of provocation while they are attempting to impersonate the inner world of schizophrenics along with the subdued desolation through sedatives. At thesame time and since the actual actions are the essence in their work, they are attempting to reach their own inner world through the internal processes manifested and experienced within these acts.
